I am interested in Wabi, a Japanese philosophy that values the beauty of imperfection and the simplicity of things in their most natural state. I make drawings through studying structures and forms of nature, and by observing the evolution of these forms. I use the studies of the shape to recreate prints. The approach embraces an organic and simple method. I look to different techniques and process for different ways to create brushwork, for example, I have looked into calligraphy and the mark making techniques found in Rosetta Stones. The inspiration for line forming is endless, and this is what excites me about creating abstract imagery. I set out to emulate the tranquility and simplicity of nature - using intuition as a guide, embracing mistakes, chance and play.
